KINGDOM LIVING: The Promise has come!

Day: Day 4
Date: January 12, 2023
Title: KINGDOM LIVING: The Promise has come!

Peter was beginning to speak by the power of the Spirit because He was receiving truth of what was really happening.  THIS is THAT!  Remember?

Now we find in Acts 2 that another pillar is released:

Acts 2:33 NLT

And the Father, as He had promised, gave Him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.

Peter explained that God has brought forth the promise.

Now, what is really happening is that Peter is trying to explain what Jesus had talked about in advance to His disciples on many occasions.  Let’s look at one of these interactions.

When Jesus was asked by Thomas to show him the Father, this is Jesus’ response:

John 14:10-11 NASU

10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.

This next verse we all love, because it contains many promises for us:

John 14:12-14 NASU

12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

Let’s break that down.

  • He who believes in Jesus, the works that he did, they will do – AND GREATER WORKS, which means exceedingly great, loud, large, mighty, and strong.
  • Whatever you ask in His name, He will do it.
  • The Father will be glorified in the Son.
  • If you ask Jesus anything in His name, He will do it.

He said that what you ask, He will do, and He said it twice for emphasis.

Notice, everything Jesus was able to do is available for us to do also.  However, we must ASK.  And here is the Kingdom motivation – so that the Father may be glorified!

Then look at what Jesus says.

John 14:15 NASU

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Let’s break down what it means to love Him and keep the commandments He gave us to do.

THE GREATER WORKS

You should be shouting right now!  You are the ones He has invested in to do GREATER WORKS!

And we are empowered to do them because we have been given the promise.

The wonderful promise of the Third Person of the Trinity.

There was a great need for the promise to come!  We cannot do any works unless the Father answered Jesus’ request.

John 14:16 NASU

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;

How long will He be with you?  FOREVER!

John 14:17 NASU

That is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

Now we know that the Spirit of truth was with them and the shift was going to come when He would be IN THEM.

For what purpose?

Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure and He begins to explain some of the things the Holy Spirit was being sent to them for.  There are many, but let’s start with these.

John 16:5-13 NASU

5 But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, “Where are You going?”
6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;
10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;
11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

This is where we can begin to have the revelation needed of key elements of what Holy Spirit would do.

  1. The Holy Spirit convicts the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment – Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of faith of His disciples and the world.
  2. The Holy Spirit guides us into all the truth.

He continues to give us revelation as we read the Word, and spend time with the Father and the Son, so that we begin to know who we are as we see who THEY are.

  1. The Holy Spirit discloses to us what is to come

He will announce in detail, who we are and whose we are.  We are sons and daughters, and heirs of God.

Galatians 4:6-7 NASU

6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
7 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

  1. The Holy Spirit reveals what we are capable of through the power of the Spirit.

Romans 8:11b NIV

And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.

What we have operating through us is RESURRECTION POWER that was made available to us by Jesus’ death and resurrection.

The total message of salvation is the resurrection power of God that has transformed us through salvation’s work.

Salvation comes from the word SOZO and, remember, it means all of this:

  • Prosperous
  • Whole
  • Healed
  • Delivered
  • Protected
  • Preserved
  • Blessed

We are instantly born again the moment that we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Our lives are changed from glory to glory as we diligently learn to apply Scripture to our lives, but it takes time to reflect the image of Christ as we were created to reflect.

This supernatural transformation occurs when we actively work with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work in our lives continuously and progressively.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to live as He intended.

Because, the promise is here.  He is available to us 24 hours a day empowering us to show forth His glory on this earth.

ACTIVATION:

On purpose, ask someone if they need prayer today and pray with faith that the power of God will show up through you to them and bring forth the answer.

Hallelujah!  Let us thank Him for the promise that has come!

PRAYER:

Jesus,

Thank You for the price You paid to join us again to our Father!  Thank You, Father, for sending us the promised Holy Spirit and empowering us.

Holy Spirit we thank You for becoming more real to us this year as we step out in faith and prove all that is written, we can do.  We know You will move through us to accomplish it.  Though we understand that we cannot do anything without You, we also understand that we can do ALL THINGS that have been given to us to do because You have come to live inside of us.   We are determined to live in KINGDOM REALITIES.

AMEN!
