“Drift or Grit”
Elder Jonathan Farrell, in a very relatable way, warned us of what happens in our journey of life when we become so busy for God that we slowly drift from being “fiery and passionately in love with Him.” This teaching helps each person to pinpoint where we are in pursuing God and then to see the need to develop a plan to deepen our love relationship with true grit and intentionality. When we remember our first love and the “cost” we gladly paid at the beginning, then we see our need to repent for replacing intimacy with activity. We want to recapture our first love for God that burned so true, and recognize that it is the Holy Spirit who helps us respond properly. Maturity must deepen our love, so that our motive in all things is pure and passionate love for God, not drifting into the busyness and responsibility. Jesus wants us to be as hungry for Him as He is for us!
