We are looking this week at examples of people who had to Align with Heaven’s agenda in order to bring forth what was in God’s heart.
It was not easy for any of them. So we, also, should not think moving in Heaven’s Alliance will be easy. But we will see as we continue, it will all be worth it, and there is much blessing we will receive as we choose to Align.
Today’s example is MOSES.
As you probably already know, Moses had to Align with God’s command to deliver Israel from bondage. Let’s see how this occurred and how we can learn and apply these things to our lives.
Moses’ heart broke for the burdens that were upon his people, the Israelites. He identified with them even though he had grown up in the courts of Egypt, because the daughter of Pharaoh had saved his life as a baby and raised him as her own son (Exodus 2:5-10).
Though Moses had compassion on his people, he certainly was not a godly deliverer to begin with.
Exodus 2:11-12
11 Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
The heart to deliver someone who is being dealt with unjustly is God’s heart. Of course, God hates injustice. He actually had a plan to deliver His people from all of the bondage of Egypt. However, God’s plan was not carried out properly by Moses. He acted too impulsively and without wisdom.
We can see that this was not the proper way to handle things, can’t we? But often, even today in our society, when we become aware of real injustice, there is a response that is just as bad.
We, the people of God, must continually allow God to lead us in how we should respond properly to right the wrongs. We must not act in an unjust manner ourselves. What makes our actions different from theirs, then?
Evil is evil no matter what side it comes from!
Moses knew it; that is why he hid the body of the Egyptian in the sand and fled from Egypt. What he sowed, he was about to experience himself.
Exodus 2:15
When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.
At this point, Moses was not the man that God had planned for him to be. So Moses did what he had to and he fled.
When you have done something that you know you should not have done, it is ok to distance yourself from it. But of course, that is not all you need to do.
What you need is an encounter with God so you can enjoy what it is like to be in accordance with Heaven’s Alliance.
Do you know that none of this shook God up? Do you know that none of this was a surprise to God? It did not stop Him one bit from planning the interaction that would be needed to change Moses into a righteous deliverer!
Do you know that God is bigger than your mistakes? Do you know that even when you run from something you did, there is another step you must take? You must have an encounter with God that will take your gift that was used perversely and turn it into what God always intended it to be.
Moses was first a shepherd for his father-in-law, Jethro, in Mount Horeb, the mountain of GOD.
We are probably familiar with these passages, but let us consider what we should do to understand how it affects us.
Exodus 3:2-3
2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.
3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
Obviously, this was a supernatural encounter with God to bring Moses into a Heavenly Alliance with God. There is NO WAY Moses could be who God called him to be without an encounter with God.
You may have heard me preach this, but in case you have not, let us not miss this very important interaction when Moses said, “I will now turn aside and SEE this great sight.”
It is essential on our part to NOTICE the significance of every supernatural encounter we have. It will make a difference for us and it will make a difference in God’s response.
Exodus 3:4
So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”
When we turn to see the supernatural events that God has for us, He will respond personally, as He did for Moses.
Exodus 3:5-6
5 Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”
6 Moreover, He said, “I am the God of your father — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
I believe God is asking us to form a Heavenly Alliance with Him. He knows where we are, and He knows who we are. He has given each of us a heart for what His purposes are for us on the earth.
He is looking for those He has called to join forces with Him to accomplish His purposes.
Exodus 3:7-9
7 And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.
8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.”
God could have done it alone; He is GOD. But He chooses to make Heavenly Alliances with us to bring us into the HIGH CALL He has for each of us.
Look what He said to Moses.
Exodus 3:10-12
10 “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
12 So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
God was going to help Moses utilize his gifts properly now. Through Moses, Heaven’s authority overthrew Egypt’s power.
I know God is calling us, also, into a Heavenly Alliance with Him to accomplish His purpose in the earth.
We must recognize the importance of this time. We must look to see what He will say to us individually and corporately.
And we must choose to Align with Heaven. Your HIGH CALL is to:
- Turn and see what HE is doing or saying to you.
- Repent if necessary.
- Align yourself with Heaven’s desires for your life.
- Help others to do the same.
PRAYER
Father,
Thank You for calling me to Align with Your purposes. I am looking for encounters with You and I want to respond properly to them.
I am looking for Your holiness, and to do what You have called me to do, and to do it with Your character. I know that this requires a separation from evil and sin, and a commitment to do what is right.
I am committed to You. I am praying for that Heavenly Alignment to change my life, and to change others’ lives.
I know You are with me. I declare I am also with YOU.
Amen
