We learned yesterday why it is so important that we know that the Lord said He would FORTIFY us this year, We looked at the definition of FORTIFY:
- To secure
- To give physical strength, courage or endurance to
- To add mental and moral strength to
- To enhance
- To strengthen by military defenses
We looked at the first 3 parts of the definition of FORTIFY yesterday, and let us continue today.
- To enhance
God is going to increase us and improve us in quality and in attractiveness.
How could this be? Because the more we look like Him, the more people are drawn to us. We are going to literally be better than ever!
How? He is refining us as we welcome Him to do so. He will not force us to be refined, but He will invite us up higher.
And we must go higher to obtain the HIGH CALL of God. It calls us forward to know that there is a higher place in Him to be found. I want to improve in my understanding and I know you do too, if you are reading this right now.
Here is our promise:
Proverbs 2:6-11
6 For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
8 He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His
9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good
10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, Hallelujah!
I like the next part of FORTIFY also.
- To strengthen by military defenses
We have heavenly reinforcements through angels. Yes, angels!
Psalm 34:7
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
Psalm 91:11
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
Remember when the angel helped Peter out of prison?
Acts 12:5-7
5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church
6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.
7 Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands.
Also, other believers helped Paul escape death.
Acts 9:23-25
23 Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him.
24 But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night, to kill him.
25 Then the disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket.
I don’t know all of your stories, but I can tell you many times other people in the Body of Christ have rescued me by their warfare prayers on my behalf.
I know that God has given me warfare prayers on behalf of others as well, and it has turned many situations around.
Thank God for Angelic military forces, and thank God for the saints that go to war to fight for each other. Today, I feel we should go even deeper into understanding FORTIFY through looking at the synonyms.
God is speaking this into your spirit today. He will FORTIFY us in these ways:
Synonyms:
To encourage
When you feel weary or like you will not weather whatever storm that comes, be encouraged that you will come through.
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
When others are against you and you need to be defended, God has this encouragement for you.
Isaiah 41:11-14
11 Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish.
12 You shall seek them and not find them — Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing.
13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’
To comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
He is the Father of ALL comfort! He is our Dad, our heavenly Father! And He invests His comfort inside of us so that we can comfort others. How beautiful!
Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Who will give us rest? God will. He will gives us rest for our souls because He has yoked us to Him and His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
To embolden
Jesus was and is a great leader. He is a great leader that continually emboldens us to rise to our highest potentials, to be active, insistent and resolute.
Jesus values us so much that He pursues us, and happily invites us to deeper relationship with Him. Remember the woman at the well? He revealed who He was to her before He revealed that He was the Son of God to His disciples.
She had lived a life full of sin. But He showed up to encourage that which He saw in her. She became so bold, she ran into the town and told EVERYONE about Jesus. She was the first woman evangelist.
He does the same for us.
There are no unimportant people to Jesus—not the sinner, not the saints, not you, not me.
Now is the time and the season for us to remember all He has done for us, and is doing with us, and to be emboldened to do the same for others.
Who will rise up?
We will because He is FORTIFYING us for the WIN!
PRAYER
Thank You, Jesus, You see us through eyes of faith. You see us at the end result of what You know we can be.
You have not withheld anything from us, but You continually build us as we rely on You. How can we ever forget your great goodness and Your love?
Please keep us mindful of all of these things as we continue to say YES to the HIGH CALL You have called us to.
Thank You for Your love and Your grace.
Amen
ACTIVATION
Today, I want you to find the Scriptures from this FASTING GUIDE that you would like to put on your mirror, your cabinet, or on a sheet of paper so you can answer the HIGH CALL of GOD on your life.
Please take time to put His Word in your heart, and keep it fresh in your mind.
These days to FORTIFY have a lot of encouragement for you, so a good suggestion would be for you to read over them often and FORTIFY yourself.
Thank you for doing this.
This is a more interactive fast because I know that God is trying to mature us all, and He wants you to be an active participant so you can mature the most as you go after Him.
I love you.
