Day: Day One
Date: January 06, 2025
As we have come to recognize, the entire Bible is about relationship.
Relationship with God will lead you to healthy relationship with others.
All in all, it is the pursuit of God that keeps you passionate about XPANDING your life to please Him and reach others.
Let’s talk about Moses to start our conversation about what God wants us to get in our spirits about the word XPAND this year.
Moses was born during the time when Pharaoh put out a decree to kill all newborn male children.
Moses was found in a basket floating in the Nile River by Pharaoh’s own daughter; he was then raised up in Egypt as an Egyptian.
Although he was a Hebrew child, Moses had acclimated to an Egyptian’s way of living, doing, and thinking, even though he knew his origin.
Why is this important to us this year? Because God wants to XPAND our eyes to see the purposes of God. He wants us to XPAND our hearing that we may be able to differentiate what He is saying and doing beyond what we have now come to accept as normal.
He is XPANDING our ways of doing things.
Moses was chosen to not only free the Israelites from slavery, but to prove to them how big their God was.
In spite of their rebellion, God had a plan to bring them into the Promised Land because of the covenant promise He had made them.
God had set Moses apart to be the deliverer (as he worked with God).
God called Moses and sent him when he thought he was just a shepherd that worked for his father-in-law, just living, doing normal things, nothing exciting or extraordinary.
You may be just living ordinary.
You may not see yourself making a difference… yet!
But God is a big God, and He has a plan to XPAND your thinking.
God created Moses and watched over his whole life with the plan to have him partner with God for the great Exodus from Egypt that would set His people free from a life of slavery.
God started by getting Moses’ attention.
God had planned a supernatural introduction with a burning bush that kept burning.
Acts 7:30
And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai..
I don’t know if you realize that God also has a burning bush moment for you, but He does!
It is a moment when you become more aware of something that makes no sense to your senses, because He operates above your five senses.
God wants us to XPAND our acknowledgement that He is present and powerful.
However, let us also take note that Moses had a part to play.
Acts 7:31
When Moses saw it, he marveled at the sight; and as he drew near to observe, the voice of the Lord came to him.
He had to draw near. One translation says “he looked to see.”
And when he did, something more happened. God introduced Himself to Moses!
Acts 7:32-33
“I am the God of your fathers — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses trembled and dared not look.
Then the Lord said to him, “Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”
God is XPANDING our awareness of Him. When God shows up, He wants us to know HIM.
When He is present, it is a holy time.
It is also a time for deliverance from the enemy. Isn’t that exciting?
And just like Moses had to be willing to XPAND his thinking, his actions, his desires, so must we be willing to XPAND.
Then, we can move into Kingdom living and bring forth the reality of God’s intentions to others. When they cannot see a way out, God always has a way forward for His people.
Acts 7:34
I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you to Egypt.
This is a time where He is marking people for His glory.
You may not see yourself able to do anything differently. Yet, God created you for such a time as this. This was Moses’ day, but Moses thought too small of himself.
Exodus 3:11
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
It doesn’t matter what you think.
It matters what God knows and is willing to share with you.
Moses would not have to do it alone. And neither will you.
Exodus 3:12
So He said, “I will certainly be with you.”
He promised Moses that not only would He be there with him, but that it would also be true for all future generations.
Exodus 3:15
God said to Moses, “This you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’”
God wants to partner with each of His children to bring forth supernatural interventions to set others free.
PRAYER
Dear God,
We have made You too small in our eyes. Please forgive us and help us get beyond what we have known, so we can embrace what You have already planned for each one of us to walk in.
We want to set the captives free, as we enjoy knowing You as our patient, loving Father who longs to be with us and use us to impact others’ lives.
Here we are, Lord! Don’t let us miss our moment!
We ask in Jesus’ name, reveal all that needs to be revealed and utilize the gifts You have already sown in our lives.
Amen.
