XPAND YOUR YES!

Day: Day Six

Date: January 11, 2025

Moses had led the Israelites all these years and raised up leaders, as well. When his assignment was done, God had a plan to still cause XPANSION.

He had heard the cry in Joshua’s heart and seen him hungry and willing to do what was necessary to grow nearer to God.

For XPANSION to continue, God has to bless
the next generation to move forward.

Then this happened:

Joshua 1:1

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying…

We have to stop here to recognize what is being said. What was Joshua?

Moses’ minister. Minister here means servant.

Servant –

sharath (shaw-rath’); a primitive root; to attend as a menial or worshipper; figuratively, to contribute to; minister unto; wait on.

Joshua provided whatever Moses needed. He kept his heart right toward Moses and he worshipped alongside Moses. And he contributed to Moses from a servant’s heart, waiting on him in whatever was needed.

A true mentor knows this is a necessary part of the process. Because you honor God, they must have honor also in their heart for you.

If you won’t keep honor for those that God has put in position to lead you, then you may miss your opportunity to become the man or woman God wants you to be.

But look at the next part.

Joshua 1:2

Moses My servant is dead.

What did God say? Moses was HIS servant. Leaders have the responsibility to keep their heart right before God in honoring and serving HIM. Then they can correctly pass on what is needed.

We know Moses did that because God just said so!

Now, He commissioned Joshua:

Joshua 1:2-4

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them — the children of Israel.”

The people would now follow Joshua.

Why?

  • They knew God was leading Joshua.
  • They had a leader that listened to God and modeled it for others.
  • They partnered together with God by obeying His instructions, together.
  • They put their trust and confidence in Joshua, knowing God was on their side.

Because Moses included Joshua in the spirit, Joshua “got it.”

This year it is vitally important that we XPAND our “circles of influence.”
There is a call of God to each one to mentor one.

I am praying that you take this very seriously. We must recognize what God has entrusted to us as individuals. And we MUST pass it on to someone else.

One of the greatest problems we face today is that when those great generals of the faith passed their understanding of God and His ways to the next generation, the following generations didn’t continue in it.

It is time for us to make sure there are those who are hungry for more of God out there. We are to locate them and pour into them to XPAND the Kingdom of God and take back what the enemy has stolen.

We can do that by following Moses’ example this way:

  • Our confidence in God will give us confidence in leading others in the correct way.
  • We will listen to God’s instructions and model it for others by including them in the processes of God, as we continue to obey Him.
  • We will rise up in our trust and confidence and step into the things we have not done before, because we know HE is on our side.
  • We will then lead others to do the same.

God didn’t just have Moses in mind to lead. He always sees how the next generations can be raised up, and He instills the want for that in others.

Tag, we’re it! It’s time to become servants to God, and raise up others to have the same heart.

Who will you mentor?

PRAYER

Father,

I see how strongly You made this point throughout Your Word. I want to obey Your heart’s cry. Please form me into the leader and mentor You would like me to be.

I choose to be Your servant, to hear and obey and to long for more of You. Help me, Lord, to represent You well before others.

Please, Lord, as I pray, highlight to me the one or ones I am to mentor, and help me to lead them to a higher place in You.

I want to join You in doing the impossible for Your heart to be glad and for Your Kingdom to grow.

I position myself before You with a humble heart, and ask You to please teach me, train me, and help me to pass on all that I learn at Your feet.

I love You, and I pray You will help me love You ENTIRELY.

Amen.
