Day: Day 10
Date: January 17, 2024
When the people continued despite the opposition, the enemy became angry for he knew that God’s people were beginning to realize their positional authority. They were looking to finish the task and not to stop halfway.
Nehemiah 4:7-9 NKJV
7 Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry,
8 And all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion.
9 Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them, we set a watch against them day and night.
God’s enemy, satan sets the bar higher by getting reinforcements to conspire with him to attack by creating confusion.
We see the enemy’s strategy around us today. Anger and hatred are being released, and many are falling into confusion.
This has been an effective warfare tactic against many.
However, we are not supposed to be shaken by this tactic. NO! We are those who know our God and will be able to overcome.
How?
By watching and praying.
Matthew 26:41 NKJV
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
We must stay aware of what is going on in the spirit realm. We are not battling against flesh and blood, though often, it may seem that way. We are to war in the spirit.
That is why we must pray. We must know the Word and speak it from our mouths.
We must stand firm against the enemy and his tactics because he has come to steal, kill, and destroy.
John 10:10a NKJV
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
Oh, he is coming. That is why we have to set a watch night and day and be ready to respond properly.
This is what empowers us; the rest of the Scripture is
John 10:10b NKJV
I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.
God has sent forth a plan—His Son, Jesus—so that we are never alone in the battle. We can always know we will live a life that operates differently because we are not alone.
However, when the enemy keeps coming, we sometime begin to agree with him from our mouths.
Nehemiah 4:10 NKJV
Then Judah said, “The strength of the laborers is failing, and there is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall.”
What? The people in Judah said that! You know that Judah means praise, right?
You can lose your praise in the midst of the battle and all of a sudden you become more aware of what is wrong than what is right.
The people started to agree that the laborers were failing and that it was not feasible to build the wall.
Look at how far they got into agreement with the enemy:
Nehemiah 4:11-12 NKJV
11 And our adversaries said, “They will neither know nor see anything, till we come into their midst and kill them and cause the work to cease.”
12 So it was, when the Jews who dwelt near them came, that they told us ten times, “From whatever place you turn, they will be upon us.”
They wanted the people to return home and discontinue the work.
But, Nehemiah knew what time it was. It was time to STAY in their position!
Nehemiah 4:13 NKJV
Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Oh, people of God, stay in your position! Don’t allow any openings for the enemy! Stay together with the people God has placed in your life to build.
This time, Nehemiah and the people added swords spears, and bows.
They were calling on God and responding with defensive tactics and with the weapons they had been given.
When the enemy comes to us, we need to stay positioned, but we also have to use the weapons of our warfare.
2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.
Get the weapons ready and use them! And then make sure you stay mindful of how BIG YOUR GOD IS because we are in a war!
Nehemiah 4: 14 NKJV
And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
Remember, what you are doing will affect generations!
The enemy was the one who was losing ground. He was confounded, confused, and disabled, because it was obvious that God was on their side.
Nehemiah 4:15-16 NKJV
15 And it happened when our enemies heard that it was known to us and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work.
16 So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah.
We have some work to do!
It’s time to quit listening to the accusations of the enemy and set our face
as a flint to God to be immersed in His love to accomplish what is needed.
We will not quit halfway. We will remember our God and when everyone does their part, God will bring victory.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus,
We thank you for exposing the enemy’s lies! We will come back into faith in our call, in our positional authority, and in our ability to defeat the enemy!
You have come to give us life and more abundantly. We are getting the bigger picture. You have given us abundant life because we represent You on the earth. Therefore we must keep our hearts right before You.
We must be those who fight with truth.
We must be those who demonstrate how powerful You are to right every wrong.
We are dedicating this time before You, Lord, as we fast and pray to seek Your face and Your guidance.
We have decided to be a part of what You are doing on the earth right now.
Thank you for Your wisdom and strength as we move forward.
Amen.
