Day: Day 15
Date: January 22, 2024
The Completion of the Wall. (B.C. 445.)
Nehemiah 7:1 KJV
Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed.
Nehemiah appointed the porters, singers, and Levites in their places to their work.
This means that the Temple was revived!
Notice that worship is part of the defense needed to defeat the enemy!
Psalm 149:6-9 NKJV
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand,
7 To execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples;
8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
9 To execute on them the written judgment—this honor have all His saints.
Praise the Lord!
The Body of Christ has to understand that it will take pure worship for RE-ESTABLISHMENT according to God’s will!
These verses let us understand how important praise is. They used swords while they rebuilt the walls. Now the sword they were using was a Heavenly defense mechanism.
Every move of God is initiated with prayer and praise, because dead walls,
without living watchmen, are but a poor defense to a city.
The choice of those appointed to watch is also a very big deal.
Once again, Nehemiah picked well:
Nehemiah 7:2 KJV
That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
Faithful means trustworthy.
Feared means reverenced.
The Church that is being RE-ESTABLISHED God’s way will have to have people who are worthy of trust and who have a healthy reverence for the Lord.
I say this because whatever we do, we must do it unto Him, wholeheartedly unto the Lord.
Colossians 3:23,25a TPT
23 Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord Himself and not merely for others.
25a A disciple will be repaid for what he has learned and followed.
Whenever we do what we do for God HIMSELF, we can count on Him to repay whatever we have entrusted to Him. He always has multiplied blessings in store for us.
Nehemiah 7:3 KJV
And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, everyone in his watch, and everyone to be over against his house.
The area the city encompassed was very large. The walls enclosed the same ground as before, but the houses had not yet been rebuilt.
Nehemiah 7:4 KJV
Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not built.
So, Nehemiah was essentially building in faith. The walls were made to hold many upon the land it encompassed, but the people had no houses to stay in …yet.
Nehemiah was building big to make room for the move of God.
Nehemiah walled the city in faith.
No matter what the circumstances look like, we must see things through the heart of God.
When God builds the house, He will also be with the watchman that watches over it.
Psalm 127:1 NKJV
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
It seems to me that Nehemiah was preparing himself to return to the Persian court. He was making sure that not only were the walls built, but those who would be there continually would be capable of keeping the house of the Lord in order in the natural and the spirit.
There is such a call in the spirit today, to us as the people of God, to make sure that we honor the Lord with our lives, and that those we work with will do the same. If we are in place to lead, we must lead with those who will come alongside us, and we must be able to rise as God takes us higher in the realms of the Spirit.
We must understand that rising higher in the spirit comes with the responsibility of staying steady in the areas that we have been assigned in the natural.
Nehemiah knew that God was bringing the people back to worship in the Temple (and he assigned them by genealogy in chapter 7).
We too, must be building the walls, and making room for the ones who God has assigned to us to come, whether or not we see it yet in the natural or not.
Where is our level of commitment to God’s will concerning the RE-ESTABLISHMENT of His Body?
Are we willing to include everyone?
We are to REBUILD our portion of the wall.
We are also called to RE-ESTABLISH God’s will in our ability to reach others with His love and His light.
Nehemiah 8:1 NKJV
Now all the people gathered together as one man in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate; and they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded Israel.
True revival will come from God when our hearts cry out AS ONE MAN for those His heart is crying out for.
Not only that, but Nehemiah positioned the people in front of the Water Gate where the water would flow.
I always say the anointing is deeper at the front, and it is.
We must position ourselves individually at the foot of the Cross.
We must position ourselves, collectively, where the water of the
Word of fresh revelation is flowing out.
The Body of Christ has lived in so much division, but when the Holy Spirit flows He brings oneness that is unobtainable any other way.
May we come together to seek His heart and His face, and learn how to flow at the Water Gate as Earth responds to the Heavenly call.
The Holy Spirit has actually been awaiting these days to work with and through a united Body that moves in reverence for our God. We must be a Body
of Christ that is passionate to re-unite with purpose for His purposes.
We must keep our hearts ready to obey His commandments.
LET US PRAY
Dear God,
We want to position ourselves where You are pouring truth out upon Your Word, so we will stay revived and prepared to love those who You are commissioning to come our way.
We are ready to worship You and You alone.
Hear our hearts cry for those who are lost and undone. Help us, Lord, to make ourselves available at the sound of Your voice.
We position ourselves as watchmen on the Wall of Liberty as You have commissioned us. We are determined to reverence You and be faithful.
I pray, dear Jesus, that we will be able to disciple others to know and love Your heart.
We are grateful that You are including us, for this time frame in history, to be the difference and to see the Church walls restored. We are grateful the people of God are being restored to the proper place that You have assigned to them.
Thank you, Lord, for Your faithfulness. May we mirror You in everything we say and do.
Amen.
