The enemy would like nothing better than to keep you believing that there is no breakthrough available for you. You may have a hard time in one area or in many areas, because the enemy has surrounded you with circumstantial evidence to reinforce his lies that there is no way out!

But the truth is, Jesus has already won the battle against the enemy. We can walk differently than we ever could before, because the devil loses the strength of his strongholds when we recognize that we are the very habitation of God.

The SPIRIT of Almighty God has transferred us (take note that this is past tense) from the kingdom of darkness into God’s marvelous light and He has changed our character as He inhabits us.

Ephesians 5:8-10 NKJV

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the SPIRIT is in ALL goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding OUT what is acceptable to the Lord.

It is true that we were ALL in darkness (and though it seems some are worse than others, darkness is darkness). BUT NOW, after we receive Jesus as Savior and follow Him we are in the light of the LORD!  AND we can walk as children of LIGHT!

We can exhibit the truth of being radically changed.

  • Be good and do good to others.
  • Act righteous because we are the very righteousness of God in Christ.
  • Walk and speak the truth in love!

This is a total contrast to the kingdom of darkness! Hallelujah!

We are going all out to shine the light on the lost, so that they can experience the wonder of being transformed from darkness into His marvelous light!

And they will respond to the light because this is a new season. God has plenty of divine appointments for those who are aware and make themselves available! He also has given us some warnings about staying full of light.

Ephesians 5:11-12 NKJV

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

Not only are we OUT of the darkness; we are not to entertain the things done in the dark any more. We must understand this is only accomplished by recognizing and giving ourselves to the EMPOWERMENT of the SPIRIT of God and giving no place to the devil to re-enter. Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

If we do not walk in the SPIRIT in attempting to win someone to the Lord, we might let our guard down to just be accommodating so that the other person will relate to us. But we can’t find that in the Word of God. Jesus ate with publicans and sinners to display God’s love and wisdom to them, but He never joined in any compromise to join them to Himself.

How can the pure be mixed? He was pure and He stayed pure. He has called us to the same, and He has EMPOWERED us to do the same as He did. We are to be the light that walks into a room and changes the atmosphere. We are to change the way people look at things, because the light awakens people that have been lulled to sleep by the enemy. The enemy has done things that need to be exposed to the light of God. That is how people get free from the enemy’s strongholds.

Look at the next two verses.

Ephesians 5:13-14 NKJV

13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."

The light of God inside of us should be let ALL OUT with the SPIRIT of God manifesting His POWER. When we walk in our authority and know who we are in Christ, we can wake up those who are “dead” in their sins, and announce the antidote. We can say, “Christ will give you light to eradicate the darkness in your life, just like He did mine!”

This is the will of God for us—for everyone. But we must live our lives differently—set apart, not acting or looking like the world.

Ephesians 5:17-18 NKJV

17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the SPIRIT.

We look different when we are understanding what the will of God is. We understand what the will of God is when we stop joining the world, and instead, fill up with Heaven through the SPIRIT of God infusion.

It is not a sacrifice; look at how we get to live.

Ephesians 5:19 NKJV

…speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and SPIRITUAL songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord

This is the wonderful aspect of serving God and being together as the family of God.

We get to live in the Word and make it come alive. We get to sing and have joy about praising our God and making His heart happy, because we are operating the opposite of the world. They grumble, they complain, and they are miserable. We have come OUT of that darkness, and we can stay OUT of that darkness.

Ephesians 5:20 NKJV

…giving thanks always for ALL things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Having a grateful heart keeps you steady and moving forward in God. And yet, there is another part—submitting.

Ephesians 5:21 NKJV

…submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Unfortunately, “submission” has been misused by people appropriating it to manipulate, control, and hold others in bondage. True submission will bring honor to God and to each other.

This Scripture is speaking of how we continue to live our lives without compromise. Our brothers and sisters who live in righteousness and are proven co-laborers with us, can warn us if we have forgotten to reverence our Lord by thinking or acting like anything but LIGHT.

We are in this together. We are ALL IN so we ALL can go ALL OUT for the glory of God.

Be the light to the world. Be the light to each other. Stay in the light of the SPIRIT, and He will EMPOWER you to be the light in the four walls and outside the four walls of the church! Then everything is going to be better than okay. It is going to be POWERFUL, productive, and exciting!

#Spirit-Empowered Prayer:

God, I want to thank You so much for rescuing me. Thank You for shining Your light on my wicked ways and redeeming me from the trappings of the enemy. Make me always mindful that I could never rescue myself, and I can’t expect others to rescue themselves either. I am asking You to send me as light into the darkness for Your purposes. I am asking You to release me on rescue missions that matter for eternity.
I am asking You to keep me closely knit to Your heart and closely knit to others of like SPIRIT and mind. Help us to keep each other “in check” with what is right, that Your Name will be glorified on the earth.
Thank You that I don’t have to do this in my own strength, but I am EMPOWERED by the SPIRIT. I submit to the guidance of Holy SPIRIT, gladly and with rejoicing.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
