ALL OUT – UNTO HIM

Do you remember the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane? Jesus tried to get some back-up from Peter, James and John. He wanted them to help Him pray, to tarry, to wait for the surrender to take place fully in His heart. Jesus could have chosen to not actually give His life. There was a war within His soul to give in to God’s perfect will. Jesus struggled as He asked God to take this cup away from Him IF POSSIBLE.

But He came to the place of full surrender, and I believe this whole interaction was to show us His “YES,” and it had to be without back-up. Sometimes when God asks us to do the impossible, we will be required to do it from a place of pure, purposed surrender without anyone standing with us. A surrender that comes from such a hard decision causes us to die to our own will, and His will becomes alive within us.

That makes it necessary to cry OUT for the EMPOWERMENT of the SPIRIT to even be able to do what is asked. There was a desperation in Jesus to obey. He wanted us to have the opportunity to be re-united to the Father, but the cost was so great. He had to win over every ounce of His flesh to give us the opportunity to also win over every ounce of our flesh. But He did, and because He did, He has provided us the same opportunity!

In this year, we are looking at being ALL OUT by BEING EMPOWERED by the SPIRIT. We must understand and access the sacrifice necessary to bring the remedy not only for our individual problems, but for what is happening to the world. The bigger picture is addressed by the prophet Joel.

Joel 1:6 KJV

For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

This is a description of the devourer that has come into the land to destroy it. We can see what the enemy has done. If we see by the eyes of the SPIRIT, we can see the hordes of hell and how the devourer has ravished our land. Currently, it seems everywhere we look there are losses, pain and attacks. The remedies depend upon the prayers of God’s people. But there is also a remedy given!

Joel 1:8 KJV

Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

Lament! Cry OUT with everything you have! Lament as one who has reserved themselves for Jesus. Lament as those who will position themselves in a place of intercession, knowing that as you do, you can stop the oppressor’s tactic. As we fast and pray, let us take seriously what the Lord is showing us to do.

Joel 1:13a KJV

Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie ALL night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God.

Howl is a strong word. But it is meant to be strong. He calls us to the deep places in prayer, orchestrated by Holy SPIRIT leading us to intercede on behalf of others, our nation, and against ALL satan’s tactics. Joel was speaking to them in a way they would understand: a woman who was waiting for her husband who had been killed and priests who mourned for the sins of others.

Joel 1:14 KJV

Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and ALL the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord.

Now Joel was calling the people of God to recognize the condition at hand and deal with it SPIRITUALLY, not naturally—and we must do the same. This is the time when we turn to God with ALL of our hearts and announce who our great God is. We proclaim that He is with us and in us.

This fast can make a difference, not only for us as individuals, but for others as we offer prayer with caring hearts, feeling their pain and calling upon God for His intervention.

Joel 2:12-13 KJV

12 Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to Me with ALL your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth Him of the evil.

We arise together; we blow the trumpet SPIRITUALLY to alert others and call them into oneness, as we cry to the Lord, knowing He is merciful and great and will come to our aid!

Joel 2:15 KJV

Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.

We see what is happening, and we call God’s people into the place of reverence to our God. They must see the consequences if we don’t arise. We are fierce about arising and sounding the alarm and taking this time seriously!

Joel 2:1 KJV

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let ALL the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

We declare, “God, You are the remedy!” We come into agreement with the prophets of old and the prophets that are arising in agreement with this strong repentance and willingness to sound the alarm. We expose the enemy and rely on God’s love and help.

Joel 2:17 KJV

Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, where is their God?

We declare that as we fast and pray, our God will be seen and known. And we will win against our opinions and our ways and surrender to God’s will and His ways. I believe we can save our households, our city, and our nation, and affect the outcome of many people and many nations.

The porch represents the flesh, the outer court of worship. The altar represents the SPIRIT, the place of sacrifice, the place of giving up and re-dedicating our lives back to God. It's time to weep between the porch and the altar until the SPIRIT of the Lord is poured OUT upon us from on high. We understand that we can repent for ourselves if we find things out of order within ourselves. We also understand we can repent “in the gap,” standing in the place of another, and repenting for the sins of another, and we will prevail with the Lord’s help.

He is here, and He is willing. Now is the time for us to be “present” with Him and be willing, as Jesus was, to do ALL unto the Lord. We lay aside our agendas. We put aside our desires and pick up His desires. Glory be to His Name and His Name only!

We can BE the difference the world is waiting for!

#Spirit-Empowered Prayer:

Lord, we trust Your Word. We thank You, Jesus, for Your willingness to die on the cross that we may be saved. We can know You to the point that we can surrender as You did to the perfect will of the Father. Please direct our hearts, clean up our souls, our lives, our thoughts, and our actions, and help us live our lives surrendered completely to You. We also ask for others and for those in situations, orchestrated by satan to experience Your supernatural intervention because of our sincere prayers. Let the “bigger picture” be in us so that we will stop thinking small. We are able to go up and take the country—and the whole world. In Jesus’ Name we pray.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
