Love the Lord your God with all your mind. Mind … this means the exercise of your mind. Your understanding. So God is specifically saying He would like you to love Him with every exercise of your mind. Have you ever exercised? It definitely takes determination. You have to continue to make decisions to do things that certainly do not feel comfortable. And you need to keep your mind on the result, not on what you are feeling at the moment.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
Philippians 3:12 NKJV


This will take effort, exercising your mind to choose to press on.

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV


Paul wasn’t thinking about the challenges or the struggles. He was thinking about the end results … and we must also. That is how we will know that we are growing in God.

Therefore, let us, as many as are mature, have this mind.
Philippians 3:15 NKJV


And we are not to think that anything we are doing is because we are so awesome. Instead, we must recognize that it is because HE is so awesome! We are warned by Paul about this. We must love the Lord God with our minds keeping things in divine order. He is our strength and it is by the SPIRIT of God that we have the life of God and we can give out the life of God.

5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:5-6 NKJV


Imagine that we have the very Spirit of God inside of us to help us control our minds and to change our mindsets, so we can offer all the glory to God in all that is good that gets accomplished for the Kingdom. Holy Spirit is not only HOLY, He is ALL IN and He lives inside of us. (If you haven’t experienced the fullness of the Spirit, please let me know and I will help you. It is the desire of God that you can have the fullness of His Spirit in you as the Great Helper.)
If we learn to look at the goodness of God and look at His promises to us that are verified by the Spirit, we will be friends of God, not His enemy! An enemy of God is not only someone who has done horrible things, but those who just allow their minds to become totally self-centered on the things of this earth instead of the things of the eternal. Are you getting the importance of being ALL IN?

18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame — who set their mind on earthly things.
Philippians 3:18-19 NKJV


We are indeed in this world, but we are not “of this world.”

20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV


The Lord told us to do these things, so it is possible, and the Word tells us how to accomplish it.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.
Philippians 4:8 NIV


So the commandment to us is to make sure that what we are thinking of in our minds is excellent according to God and gives Him praise! Let us be on a mission to obey Him and to make sure we are putting His word in our hearts, so we won’t sin against Him.
I encourage you to keep putting His Word in your heart every day during the fast—and every day after the fast! There are many Bible studies available online and on your phone APPS. There are Bibles you can buy that are written so you can read through the Bible in a year, in the normal order or in the chronological order that it actually happened. Please, if you have one thing to make a resolution on this year, let this be it: How else can I be ALL IN?
