2018 Fasting Guide – Day Nine

All the people I talk to say that there is some area of their lives that they would like to be more victorious in. They struggle in the natural but mostly they struggle in their minds. I highly recommend Joyce Meyer’s best-selling book, Battlefield of the Mind. It is her best-seller because of the awareness people have that they need to change their minds before they can change the outcome of their lives. This can be confusing to many Christians because of what is declared in Corinthians:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

So what is the deal? We are absolutely delivered from darkness into His marvelous light at salvation.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love.
Colossians 1:13 NKJV

We must realize we all started out the same. All of us are born into this world as children of Adam, born into sin, and therefore we were also separated from the purposes that God made us for. Oh but our God planned a divine intervention from the beginning! Jesus was not an afterthought. He was slain before the foundation of the world to cover our sins and restore us to the Father.

17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
1 Peter 1:17-21 NKJV

It’s nothing we did to convince Him to do something to rescue us from our sin. No, God knew sin would be chosen, and He chose His Son to pay that price. It’s hard to imagine, yet it is a spiritual reality. It was a rescue and a transfer. Rescued from darkness, transferred into His marvelous light!

But all of our old ways of thinking did not change. So there still is a need for us to mature in Christ by the transformation that happens as we renew our minds to what the Word has to say over us. This is the only way that we overcome the things that tempt us. It may be unforgiveness, hopelessness, certain sins that were familiar to our lives before salvation and many other things. You will become more aware of what you struggle with that isn’t pleasing to the Lord as you move forward in Him. But the good news is that we are being transformed by the Word.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord
2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV

God’s Word has the power to change us as we begin to see ourselves with God’s identity—the identity that He has always had planned for us instead of whatever we have lived with in the past. We will change IF we allow God’s Word to penetrate our minds. We must conform to Him instead of the bombardment of what the world is always throwing at our minds through media, unregenerated talk and images, and thoughts satan throws our way. Though our spirit is brand new and alive in Christ, our minds must be renewed.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2 NKJV

So we know from this scripture that:

• We can be conformed to this world, even after salvation
• We can also choose to be transformed after salvation

Though challenging at times, we are so blessed; we can always choose more and more of Him. And He is our transforming agent!

SO THEN, brethren, consecrated and set apart for God, who share in the heavenly calling, [thoughtfully and attentively] consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest Whom we confessed [as ours when we embraced the Christian faith].
Hebrews 3:1 AMP

Thoughtfully and attentively consider Jesus. Isn’t that beautiful? Why wouldn’t we want to? Look at what He did for us. He took our sins, He changed our lives, He loves us unconditionally and He called us to SHARE in a heavenly calling! So we can choose to do that which is right. And doing right is always right. And it always brings a benefit package with it because nothing we ever do that acknowledges God is lost. Instead it is multiplied back to us because He is GOOD. And He has a bigger shovel! One of my favorite things is that the Word of God isn’t the only thing He left us to guide our lives and transform us. He also gave us His Holy Spirit!

13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is Mine and make it known to you.
John 16:13-15 NIV

If you take the time today to read the Word and to ask the Holy Spirit to do just that—to guide you into all the truth that is in the Word—then you will begin to think as He does. The thoughts of Jesus will be your thoughts.
Of course you will be changed. You will want to be ALL IN because the Spirit is ALL IN and He is the one revealing to you hidden truths. Your mind will be transformed, your life will improve and His name will be glorified in all the earth through His Church—the way it has always been intended.

Let’s pray:

I come to You today and I sincerely see the need for some transformation in my life. I am excited to be ALL IN. I am asking You, Father, to help me embrace all that You want to change in my life. And I am asking You, Holy Spirit, to reveal the thoughts of God to replace my thoughts and make me more and more like Jesus—a walking witness of the transforming power of Love.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
